WOUNDED WARRIOR DASH
The University of Washington Semper Fidelis Society
Husky United Military Veterans
What is it?
The Wounded Warrior Dash is a 5k charity race held to benefit wounded veterans, through both the Wounded Warrior Project and the Semper Fi Fund. Like other 5ks, you can run as an individual, but unlike other 5ks, you have the option of competing as a team – a 4 person “fire team,” that runs the 5k together. As a team, one of you is “wounded” and must be carried the entire time, but don’t worry; it doesn’t have to be the same person the whole time. We recommend only the strong, brave, or crazy take on this challenge!
Who can run?
Everyone! You, your friends, anyone that wants to support our veterans! Join us in promoting a great cause, tell your friends, and join our Facebook event for updates.
Where is it?
Warren G. Magnuson Park
7400 Sandpoint Way NE

The entire course is contained in the park, with the start / finish line at the east end, where the little green tag is below:

When is it, and when should I show up?
Why should I get involved?
This event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and Semper Fi Fund. Both are non-profit organizations established to provide financial relief servicemembers injured in support of operations around the globe. Both organizations provide relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs. Their programs provide support in a variety of ways including: Service Member and Family Support, Specialized & Adaptive Equipment, Adaptive Housing, Adaptive Transportation, Education and Career Transition Assistance, Therapeutic Arts and Team Semper Fi. For more information or to donate directly, please visit the Semper Fi Fund Website and the Wounded Warrior Project Website.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the UW Semper Fidelis Society for future chapter activities and events, such as this Wounded Warrior Dash.
What sort of fun stuff, goodies, and prizes will there be?
What a great question! We will be having a BBQ at the finish line (a BBQ on Memorial Day? What a great way to end a race!) along with post race drinks and snacks, and even the Red Bull truck will be making an appearance to give you wings. All are free of charge, but donations for burgers will be gratefully accepted - and will go to wounded veterans, just like your entry fee. There will be a DJ, and you're welcome to dance on the sunny (fingers crossed,) shores of Lake Washington if you feel so inclined. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female in the individual catagory AND prizes for the top 3 fireteams. We're not telling you what they are, beacuse they're that awesome. Also, we may not have decided what they are yet. Excited? Sign up today!
