January 2006 Meeting Minutes
Meeting Date: Wednesday, January 4, 2006
Chronicler: Muirgheal inghean Alasdair
Upcoming Events:
Muirgheal inghean Alasdair has the rental forms from the site and have contacted the Barony's Exchequer with regards to obtaining the funds for the rental. Site copy is already available on the Kingdom calendar and will be appearing in the February Crier (as in, the one that is mailed in January). She'll be throwing together an event web site and a flyer for people to post around campus, as well as E-mailing the local SCA lists within the next 48-72 hours. She also suggested people bring any games they might have, as well as anything they'd like set out for an A&S display. She has also contacted the dance-master about possibly having some sort of practice or demo at the Feast.
Project Night
Wednesday, February 8, we will be having a cooking night to prepare our contribution to the Feast. Hopefully CT's kitchen will be available that night -- if not, Muirgheal inghean Alasdair will volunteer her cooking space. Currently on the menu are two Scottish dishes -- minced collops and colcannon.
For our January project night we are hoping that Fiach will be able to teach a joint class on shoe construction and An Tir lore -- ideally, a material list will be available beforehand for those who would like to get started that night. If he is unavailable, Muirgheal inghean Alasdair has offered to put together an introduction to needlework/embroidery project involving handkerchiefs with bunnies. Hopefully we'll be working on the Light of St. Bunstable scroll in February.
Light of Saint Bunstable Scroll
Ursula should consult with prior recipients of the Light of St. Bunstable award to see about modifying the award text. We're hoping to make enough headway on this to see about getting started by the February project night.
Newsletter/new pamphlet
Muirgheal inghean Alasdair proposed that we put together a newsletter/new pamphlet. She is happy to oversee the whole business providing others are willing to contribute content. Derian offered to scan a prior newsletter and send along copies of our current flyer. Some of her ideas for content include "What is the SCA?", a description of the College's activities, the history of the College, descriptions of a&S projects we've undertaken, events we've hosted, bits about other SCA activities we aren't as involved in and hopefully pretty color pictures -- a group picture from this year, perhaps taken at the Feast, would be nice.
