April 2008 Meeting Minutes

Greetings

I was mainly taking notes for things I have to do for the demo, but I thought I'd post a general meeting re-cap with reminders for everyone who said they'd do stuff.

First, scheduling. We'll be meeting every other Tuesday at 5:30 PM in the 2nd floor HUB lounge unless otherwise announced. Project nights often happen on the scheduled night but at a variable time and place, so keep an eye on your E-mail for project night announcements. Our next meeting will be a project/prep night for our upcoming demo on April 22. Details will be posted closer to the date.

Spring Thing (not Fling) is coming up on June 8th. Ursula will be autocratting the event (all forms are already in!) and it will be held in the afternoon in the Sylvan Theater on the UW campus. I will be holding a competition to pick our new champion (details to be posted once I think of them) and we'll have a general afternoon of merriment and hanging out.

Ursula will be elevated to the Order of the Laurel sometime during June Faire (May 30-June 1 in Dragon's Laire). You should come and see her or help her prepare during project afternoons she will host (you should also take lots of pictures as I will be in Scotland).

Our upcoming demo is fast approaching. It will be on Thursday, April 24, from 6:30-9:30 PM in the West HUB Ballroom on the UW campus. We have access to the room for setup and take-down from 6-10 PM. All rental fees will be covered by SAUF and we also have funds from the ASUW to cover multiple 1/8th page ads in the Daily. If you have ideas/drawings/whatnot for ads, please send them to Dana at danakubilus AT gmail DOT com. Dana is coordinating all of our advertising efforts such as flyers, cookies, etc. so any ideas or offers of assistance you have should go to her.

Our last UW-mandated deadlines are all tomorrow, 4/10. By then we need to advise of any changes in our setup (I already submitted a plan and this is not changing), equipment (please send any equipment lists to me ASAP), A/V equipment needs (Derian will be checking with them to get a projector for fighting videos), and activities (I will be advising them on our activities). SAUF automatically makes our payments for the event, so on the money end there we're all set.

If anyone knows anyone who'd be willing to come sit around in fancy costumes and chat with people while working on hand projects, let me know.

Also, if anyone knows the name of our rapier champion, please let me know so they can be contacted and posted on the website.
