Student AIDS Action Network, a non-profit student organization at UW, was started in 2003 by Tim Menza, a MD/Ph.D student, to increase awareness about the AIDS pandemic on campus. It is now a network of students fighting HIV/AIDS by
  • Raising awareness of the medical, social, political, and economic ramifications of the disease locally and globally
  • Opening forums of communication
  • Educating ourselves and others about HIV/AIDS
  • Collaborating with community organizations
  • Collaborating with other students
  • Learning how to talk to legislators about domestic and international issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, interact with them, and ask questions in order to bring about change

  • SAAN has hosted, participated in, and promoted a variety of fun and exciting events over the years. They include
  • Annual AIDS Charity Ball
  • Dining Out for Life (Lifelong AIDS Alliance)
  • Movie screenings ( A Closer Walk )
  • Relay for Life with Students for Equal Health
