CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I - Name
- The name of the organization is Rajana Society (RS).
ARTICLE II - Purpose
- The purpose for which the organization is established
is to promote and advance Cambodian arts and entertainment
and to support Cambodian and non-Cambodian artists.
ARTICLE III - Membership
- Section 1
The membership of this organization shall consist
of regularly enrolled undergraduate and graduate
students at the University of Washington.
It shall also include Khmer members of the
University faculty and staff.
- Section 2
Associate membership shall include members of the
Khmer community and all individuals who
believe in and support the purpose of this organization.
ARTICLE IV - Meetings

Regular meetings of this organization shall be held
monthly or a specified date agreed upon the majority of the Officers. Notice of the following meeting is to be
given at the current meeting. Meetings other than
during the regular academic school year shall be
called at the discretion of the Officers.
ARTICLE V - Officers
- Section 1
The officers shall consist of one President, one
Vice-President, one Secretary, one Treasurer,
and at least one Public Relations officer.
Each of the officers shall be registered students
at the University of Washington.
- Section 2
The President shall have successfully completed
at least one year at the University of Washington.
The other officers shall be students in good
standing at the University of Washington. The
President is required that they also be a member
of the organization for at least a year after
their term ends.
- Section 3
The term of office shall be one year from the
date of yearly elections.
- Section 4
If for any reason an officer is unable to fulfill
their duties and requirements, they can be removed.
Removal of an officer shall be by two-thirds vote
of the voting membership. For resignation, a two
step process includes a 1) written statement and
2) verbal testimony to be given in the physical
presence of the majority Officers
ARTICLE VI - Role of Officers
- Section 1 - President
The President serves as the chief officer,
having the highest authority in the organization.
The President is the official spokesperson of the
organization.
- Section 2 - Vice President
The Vice-President shall assist the President in
the performance of his duties and shall perform
the duties of the President in his absence or at
his request.
- Section 3 - Treasurer
The Treasurer shall keep proper accounting records
of the organization funds. The Treasurer shall be
responsible for the deposit of money, safekeeping
and the disbursement of the organization.
- Section 4 - Secretary
The Secretary will be in charge of handling
correspondence, keep files, and do clerical
work for the organization.
- Section 5 - Public Relations
The Public Relations officer shall be responsible
for the promotion and publicity of all organization
events, activities, and public relation effects.
- Section 6 - Webmaster
The main responsibility for the webmaster is to
maintain and keep update of the organization's homepage.
ARTICLE VII - Elections
- Section 1
Election of all officers for the following academic
year shall be held in the last week of May. The
President shall notify the membership of the
election at least 15 days before the election
meeting by e-mail and/or communicative channels.
- Section 2
Nomination shall be accepted by the Secretary from
the membership for all vacant positions up to 48
hours prior to the election meeting.
- Section 3
Voting shall be by secret ballot at the election
meeting and tallied by the election chairpersons,
or an officer that is not a candidate.
ARTICLE VIII - Affiliations
- The Organization, by majority vote of the Officers
may charter, permit affiliation with, or otherwise enter
cooperative agreements with any organization if such
arrangements would promote the purposes of the
Organization and is not inconsistent with any provision
of to the Constitution.
ARTICLE IX - Amendment
- Section 1
The constitution may be amended by a vote of
three-quarters majority of the entire membership
at any regular or special meeting.
- Section 2
Any proposed amendment to this constitution shall
be submitted by the President by mail to the membership
together with notice of meeting 30 days prior to the
meeting.
