Welcome

The QuikScan project creates and studies a set of formating techniques called QuikScan. Using within-document summaries, number signaling, and strategic highlighting, QuikScan is envisioned to enhance reading comprehension and retention, increase information seeking efficiency and accuracy, facilitate collaborative reading and group decision making, and helps visually impaired readers process on-screen information.

QuikScan is Ph.D. student Quan Zhou's dissertation, advised by Professor David Farkas in the Department of Technical Communication at the University of Washington. Currently, the group has been investigating the QuikScan techinques in empirical studies. Please navigate through this site to learn the project and read our publications and presentations.
