Pharmacy Class of 2009 Pledge of Professionalism

We the class of 2009, have chosen to dedicate ourselves to the following virtues in preparation for the advancement of the pharmacy profession as it continues to evolve. We pledge to:

  • Uphold the highest level of integrity in all aspects of our professional and personal lives by maintaining values that encourage trust, ethics and honor through putting the patients' best interest first.

  • Establish empathy as the foundation of our practice as pharmacists through cultural understanding, improving the quality of our patients' lives and making a difference in the community

  • Show compassion and respect towards our patients, peers, and other health professionals by understanding their needs, sympathizing and respecting their dignity at all times.

  • Demonstrate patient advocacy and honor each patient's individuality by consistently providing the highest quality health care, recognizing when changes are needed, and finding resources that may be outside the realm of our profession.

  • Commit ourselves to a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and expertise in order to optimize service, education, and improvement to our community.

We will embrace these values personally and professionally as students and future pharmacists. As professionals who have made a lifelong commitment to learning, the embodiment of these principles is essential to our interactions with patients and other health care professionals. These intrinsic values form the foundation for the success and advancement of the pharmacy profession.
