Become a Peer Reviewer
Become a peer reviewer
Peer reviewers are an integral part of Plenum’s publication process. As a peer reviewer, you will read and offer thoughtful feedback on 2-3 submissions at the beginning of each publication cycle. Your feedback is integral in the editors’ decision processes about which submissions with which to move forward. We depend on our peer reviewers for their diverse range of perspectives, experiences, and writing styles.
As a peer reviewer, you will evaluate each submission based on the following criteria, and then write a one to two paragraph evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the paper:
1. Does the piece have a cohesive and well-thought-through argument?
2. Is the piece approachable and accessible to a broad audience?
3. Is the topic in dialog with recent and relevant scholarship?
4. Is the topic compelling?
Being a peer reviewer is a great way to get involved in the Plenum community, gain formal reviewer training and experience, and become familiar with the academic publication process. Currently we are only accepting applications from students at the University of Washington.
