About
the Founding of Phi Sigma Rho
The Phi Sigma Rho National Sorority was founded on September 24, 1984
at Purdue University by Abby McDonald and Rashmi Khanna. These women wanted
to take part in the Greek system but could not participate in formal rush
activities because of their difficult engineering classes. Abby and Rashmi
decided to create a sorority for women like themselves. As a result, Phi
Sigma Rho started with 10 Charter members. Today, it has grown to a great
size with many chapters and colonies that extend from coast to coast.
Nationwide, the members of Phi Sigma Rho have gained a lifetime of support
and friendship.
