About the Founding of Phi Sigma Rho
The Phi Sigma Rho National Sorority was founded on September 24, 1984 at Purdue University by Abby McDonald and Rashmi Khanna. These women wanted to take part in the Greek system but could not participate in formal rush activities because of their difficult engineering classes. Abby and Rashmi decided to create a sorority for women like themselves. As a result, Phi Sigma Rho started with 10 Charter members. Today, it has grown to a great size with many chapters and colonies that extend from coast to coast. Nationwide, the members of Phi Sigma Rho have gained a lifetime of support and friendship.

About the University of Washington Chapter
The Mu Chapter was established in October 2002 with the help of Grechen Reed, a Gamma Chapter Alumna. The chapter began with 15 members in its Alpha Class. The Mu chapter is the first Phi Sigma Rho expansion on the West Coast.
