No, lifetime membership is conferred upon induction. However, we hope and encourage our members to continually show academic excellence.

  • 10 hours of community service to be inducted. These activities may range from coaching kids in the Special Olympics to holding clothing/food/blood drives and serving brown bag lunches.
  • Participate in at least 2 events hosted by PES, which may include social or fundraising events. We offer lots of opportunities for you to choose from! You also need to fill out a membership card and return it, with the attached one-time fee, to the PES office during office hours(in the HUB, Sub-Basement, SB-39) or at any of the informational or general meetings.

How much does my lifetime membership cost?

The national fee is $25, payable once; the lowest of any major honor society. The local chapter assesses an additional fee of $15 bringing to total to $40. Please be sure to turn in both sheets of the membership slip and a check. We do not accept membership slips without an accompanying check.

What do I get for the fee?

Your national fee pays for your pin or key, your engraved membership certificate, your copy of the FORUM and all processing. IT also pays the expenses of chapter delegates to the national convention and for a study pamphlet provided free to all new students.

A portion of the money goes to the Founders Fund, which provides up to ten $2,000 graduate scholarships and over 20 $1,000 awards for undergraduates. Some local funds to providing $200 PES-UW scholarships for our members.

Finally, we hold the annual Scholarship Symposium, in which the deans of the schools, financial aid counselors and students speak about various scholarships for both graduates and undergraduates.

What are the benefits of joining PES?

PES is an outward recognition club for personal achievement and serves as an incentive and encouragement to continue high achievement. It is a great way to meet enlightened undergraduate colleagues from various departments, states, countries, and backgrounds. PES is, after all, a national undergraduate honor society. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community by doing various types of community service. There are also opportunities for scholarships from both local and national PES. Membership in PES also identifies you to employers, professional, and graduate schools as a person of superior academic ability and performance (i.e. looks good on a resume). This chapter emphasizes importance of community service, as well as providing a network of talented young scholars who excel in their academic studies.
