BioInformatics
There are several definitions for BioInformatics, most often supporting research interests in genomics and proteomics. BioInformatics generally involves gathering, managing and analyzing large amounts of data generated from biological experiments.
I am most interested in informatics approaches that enable advances in biomedicine. Areas that may involve computer processing of biological information (although not typically considered bioinformatics) include: predictive biosimulations, drug discovery, computerised diagnostics, disease management and computerised prognoses.
