Homecoming Dawg Sled Competition
Parading their Husky pride and creative prowess, OpSmile members entered the Homecoming Dawg Sled Competition on October 27, 2006 at Red Square. Their mission: Transform a Costco cart into a Husky float to be judged for a top prize of $2,000. Unfortuately, OpSmile did not take the honors this year but had fun creating their masterpiece and celebrating in true Husky spirit. Asian Counceling Referral Services
Reaching out into the community, OpSmile volunteered for the Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) Benefit Dinner and Auction on October 21, 2006. Members met at the Seattle Sheraton and took on various roles during the program including modeling auction items and assisting with the silent auction. Volunteers were provided dinner and a gift bag for their participation. With the raised funds, ACRS continues to support thousands of people through their multilingual health and human services. Joining Parking Services on Commencement Day, OpSmile raised funds by efficently Operation Smile Night with the Mariners 2006
Spending an evening at Safeco field, OpSmile invited Mariner fans to join them at Operation Smile Night with the Mariners. At a discounted price, OpSmile received game tickets from the team to sell to fellow UW students and their families to raise funds. University Street Fair 2006
Participating in the University District Street Fair during the weekend of May 20-21, 2006, OpSmile created a spinning wheel game for children that included toy prizes and Mariners tickets. Funds raised during the event were sent to the national Operation Smile organization. The annual fair attracts upwards to 50,000 visitors and showcases local street performers, cuisine, and various arts and crafts. Relay for Life: Operation Smile Team
Camping out in Husky Stadium for a good cause, Operation Smile joined various UW organizations for Relay for Life on May 13-14, 2006. Members walked the track while being entertained with live music, food, and freebies. Proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society. |
