Literally translated as "a group woven together in friendship", Hui Hoaloha 'Ulana strives to weave lifelong bonds among students whose love for Hawaii brings them together. We endeavor to unite students from all over the University of Washington community by promoting participation in social and cultural events and to perpetuate the aloha spirit in Seattle. Through club events and public service, Hui Hoaloha 'Ulana spreads their aloha spirit within the Seattle community. For more information about our club please browse our website or feel free to contact us. Aloha!
See what Hui is up to!
Hui Hoaloha 'Ulana's biggest fundraising event of the year is our annual Spring Lu'au held at the University of Washington Seattle campus. After months of planning, Hui members work alongside sponsors from the Seattle community to put on an amazing event that showcases the unique culture and lifestyle of Hawai'i. Every year, Luau features a delicious dinner of Hawaiian food, beautiful hula and tahitian dance, and great music performances by noted Reggae/Hawaiian bands. We also have our popular Country Store which sells Hawaiian crafts along with our favorite island goodies.
Join us for an evening of fun and entertainment—it only comes once a year!
This year's annual lu'au is on SATURDAY, MAY 21st, 2016, in the Husky Union Building (HUB) Ballroom on the second floor. The theme is “Holomua,” which means “to move forward” or “progress.” This year we will be telling the story of the fire goddess Pele, her travels from Kahiki to Hawai’i and the struggles she faces trying to find home in the islands.
At luau, enjoy beautiful hula dancing and entertainment from the members of Hui. Additionally, this year, we are really excited to have The Steppas as our headliner band. Check out a few of their songs below.
Without the loving support of parents, alumni, figures in the community and our company sponsors, our annual Luau would not be possible. With this in mind, we'd like to ask you to consider supporting Luau 2015! We are currently accepting monetary donations, as well as donations of merchandise, crafts, and other local goodies to stock our Country Store. For non-monetary donations, please contact Stephanie Ung at firstname.lastname@example.org
As a tradition, parents who donate to Luau are honored in our evening program, but if you are affiliated with a company and would like to make a donation, be sure to ask about free advertising at our event as a "thank you" for your support! Thank you for your consideration!
Please click the link below to submit a monetary donation.
