Ya'at'eeh!
I am a member of the Navajo Nation. I am of the Manygoats clan, born for the One-Who-Walks-Around-You clan. My maternal grandfather is of the Bitterwater clan and my paternal grandfather is of the Edgewater clan. My maternal family is from Tonalea, AZ and my paternal family is from Pine Springs, AZ. My parents reside in Flagstaff, AZ and I currently live in Seattle, WA.
My thesis applies Microbial Source Tracking techniques to investigate water quality issues for a nearby Tribal Nation using two genotypic methods. My professional goals are to teach biology, conduct pathogenesis research, promote science education among Natives and address environmental issues that impact us.
I believe in the well being of all Native peoples and the strength that runs through our veins! In my lifetime I am excited to see and participate in the healing and development of our people. The impact of colonialism has left many wounds; however, we are going to get through the trauma that has been inflicted. Save the San Francisco Peaks!
