Vantage with Clay -- 1/28/03

After the first med school quiz of winter quarter, we needed a break.
<BR>
So we ditched our Tuesday classes for a day of climbing at Vantage!
<BR>
routes we did:<BR><BR>

Air Guitar is the route on which the legendary adventurer Goran Kropp died a few months back. He had a few pieces break,
and we did find a broken, old-style #2 Camalot in the crack on this very route!
<BR><BR>
Interestingly the broken cam was NOT one of Goran's pieces. Instead it is the remnant of post-accident testing. In an
attempt to figure out what went wrong in Goran's fall, the head ranger of Mt Rainier National Park ran some tests on
the climb. This Camalot broke during testing, and remained stuck in the crack.
<BR><BR>
I'm not sure what else broke in testing, but I'm glad that I don't have any old-style Camalots on my rack!!
