I finally made it out to a bookstore to pick up a copy of the August Issue of Bicycling Magazine. Here's page 28!

Thur 4/30/09 11:00am

I was on the 97.3 KIRO FM radio show Too Beautiful To Live last night with host Luke Burbank, the subject of another one of Eli Sanders' Stranger articles. The show airs 7-10pm Mon-Fri, and I was on at 8pm on Wed 4/29. You can download and listen to the interview here!

Wed 4/22/09 2:00pm

My story was written up by Eli Sanders in an article in The Stranger, a weekly Seattle paper!

I got a shout-out from stolenbicycleregistry.com's blog and some sweet bumper stickers! I registered my bike on stolenbicycleregistry.com when it was stolen. The site is run by a guy with some web/tech savvy and a deep hatred for bike theives. You can register you stolen bike complete with the serial number, description, photo, and your contact info, as well as search the database if you ever come across a bike you think might be stolen. It even has a way to check if a serial number has been reported stolen via your cell phone! I recommend using it if you ever buy a used bike.

My bike has been found!!! Read about how here.

214 more hits yesterday, including [Seller's Name] himself! He is now sharing his side of the story with both the Portland Police and me.

Wed 4/1/09 10:00 am

We're up to 528 hits now! Many bike shops have emailed me back to tell me they're keeping an eye out and/or posting fliers!

Tue 3/31/09 3:00 pm

Detective Andrew is still digging stuff up on [Seller's Name]. [Seller's Name] is proving unenthusiastic about being arrested.

I've emailed a bunch of bike shops in the Portland area, so hopefully if whoever bought it brings it in for service, I'll find out about it.

The main page had 358 hits yesterday!! If you google "[Seller's Name]" this page is the first result!

Mon 3/30/09 3:00 pm

Detective Andrew with the Portland Police called me this afternoon to let me know they have enough on [Seller's Name] now to arrest him!

Mon 3/30/09 11:00 am

A detective with the Portland Police called me this morning and told me he wanted to find my bike and was going to go look for [Seller's Name]. He's also going to subpoena the information Craigslist has about all three postings, and hopefully they will have a record of the people who contacted him.

Here are some of my favorite comments I've gotten back about my story:

Wow - your group did fantastic work on the internet and even better work getting around the police system. I guess all that college research work prepared you well.
-Aunt Julie

That story was like an episode of Law & Order PhD. It was better than an airport novel!
-Rat

Smart and Smarter's Disappointing Adventure??
-Mom

Maybe you should give up this science thing and open a detective agency?
-Josh

You should option the rights to Fox.
-Brandon

You got punched in the gut by the bad guys AND the good guys!
