I am a graduate student in physics working with the Electroweak Interaction Group at the Center for Experimental Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics. My research focuses on understanding backgrounds in the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Experiment. KATRIN is designed to measure neutrino mass using tritium beta decay. Expected to go online in 2009, it is still in the construction phase.

I recently passed my general exam. Here is my talk and a summary of my research. When I'm not writing code or traveling to Karlsruhe, Germany, I'm probably climbing.

I also enjoy triathlons, yoga, and recently Shotokan Karate. Some books I like:
The Jasons: The Secret History of Science's Postwar Elite by Ann Finkbeiner
Burn Unit: Saving Lives After the Flames by Barbara Ravage
Savage Summit: The Life and Death of the First Women of K2 by Jennifer Jordan
Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn
Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books by Azar Nafisi
Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer by Tracy Kidder
