Overview of the discipline of geography and the faculty and geography
major at the UW. Topics include: main subject areas and research
interests in geography; introduction of faculty and presentation of
their teaching philosophies, research interests and course offerings;
review of essential study and research skills and the use of various
electronic tools (Internet, etc.); overview of undergraduate
curriculum, and career development strategies for geography
majors. Must be taken within two quarters of entering the
department.
