UW Men's Volleyball Club

Frequently Asked Questions

What time are practices?

Practice officially runs on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30-10:30pm. However, in order to maximize our time together, warmups begin 10 minutes before. Please arrive around 8:15pm so that you have all your gear on and we can play more volleyball!

What kind of competitions/tournaments do we compete it?

This changes year to year based on the season. The main competition season will take place during winter quarter.
A and B Team: 1-2 Tournaments Fall Quarter, 3-5 Winter Quarter, Nationals Spring Quarter (A Team)
C Team: Weekly league matches

What can I expect at practice?

You can expect to work hard and have fun. With about 50 players in the gym on a given day, the gym is a great place to learn, practice and most importantly compete. Fall quarter will focus on basic fundamentals of passing, hitting and serving. Drills will include a lot of game-like scenarios in order to best prepare for our Winter competition season.

Who can come to practice?

The great part of being a University club team is that all male student and facult can come and practice with us. Contact our president if you have any more questions!

Where are practices?

Practice will take place in Gym C of the University of Washington IMA.

Are there tryouts?

Fall quarter will begin with a couple of practices to get those cobwebs out, and to get basics underway with the new guys. Our coaches and leadership team will make sure you are playing with people of similar skill and drive to improve! Tryouts helps us figure out positions for each team, and place players in the best position to grow as athletes of this sport.

How much does it cost?

Every year we try to take as much of the burden off of our club members as possible by offering a multitude of different fundraising options throughout the year. While some of the money will go to the club to help offset operating costs (equipment, coaches, travel, etc), the majority goes right back to you as a deduction from your club dues. Examples: Tournaments, Coupon Books, Campaigns, Sponsors.
