Ask A Second Year

Rory McLeod
By Rory McLeod

Dear Rory: I have been admitted to the MBA program, but am weighing whether to attend the UW or go to Berkeley. Do you have any advice?
– Excited for 2005

Dear Excited,

First of all, relax. Take a breather. It's not as big a deal as you think. The fact is, grades don't matter. You will be able to pick your own team next year, so you'll be able to work with good people. I got my internship at Seattle's Best Coffee pretty late in the game, and it turned out pretty okay. You come back from your summer, and everything is different - people's priorities, and their interests. C4C is a huge deal, and a lot of fun. Just remember: this is the best time of your life. You'll really look back on this and think of it fondly. Everything will work out. We're all in this together. If you stumble, just ask for help and someone will pick you up. No one fails - everyone passes.

Dear Rory: My toilet sometimes runs and runs, and lately I've had to remove the top of the tank and jiggle the little arm in the back in order to make it stop. I'm worried that it might flood my apartment, so I need to get it fixed. Do you have any good plumbers that you'd recommend?
–Concerned About Water Damage

Dear Rory: I'm a 55-year old man, and am carrying a few extra pounds. Sometimes I have trouble breathing, and I get a shooting pain along my left-hand side. Do you think I should I see a doctor about this?
