Our Mission
The Material Advantage UW Student Chapter is committed to the education
and involvement of students at every level to the field of Materials
Science and Engineering.
Our outreach programs are focused towards Mathematics, Engineering, and
Science Achievements for youths and those in community college. The
demonstrations provide an exciting insight on different materials'
properties, and real life experiences of Materials Science and
Engineering.
The 2004-2005 school year marked a significant step in the chapter's history. Thanks to our former president, Ka "Wingo" Wong, outreach and student involvement showed a definite. By-laws and financing were put in place in order to keep the Material Advantage - UW student chapter on track for the 2005-2006 school year.
During the 2005-2006 year the Material Advantage - UW student chapter continued outreach programs set in place last year as well as creating more contacts with local high schools and community colleges. Many Material Advantage members from the junior class helped us on our outreach events. Keeping with the tradition, barbeques and organizational events kept the chapter in the spotlight and acted as a social gathering place for recruiting new members from within the MSE department.
2006 - 2007
New chapter officers have been elected. Brian Wong is our current President and Eileen Eng the Vice President. They have chosen their cabinet which includes: Chris Petz as Treasurer, Mary Katherine Langlais as Secretary, and Caroline Dang a the events coordinator. Our goal is to continue to bring Material Science & Engineering to inquiring minds everywhere.
