LSUW Linguistics Society at UW
What? The LSUW is a student-run organization of graduate students in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Washington.
Why? We gather in order to discuss issues relevant to the department and our linguistic studies. We perform duties such as organizing the weekly colloquia, nominating visiting speakers, prioritizing the occasional pub crawl, obtaining funding for department coffee makers, and other essentials of linguistic graduate school life. And it's fun to gather with our friends and peers.
When? We meet on the first Friday of each month, some time before the colloquium.
Who? Although there are many involved, the main players are the elected officers of the organization who make sure it all comes together:
You can also have a look at the job descriptions of elected officers.
Here are faculty guidelines that can help with colloquium scheduling and administration.
