Nominate your favorite professor, deadline today

The 2003 Distinguished Teaching Award Committee invites nominations for the Distinguished Teaching Award.

Given annually, this $5,000 award is designated to honor one exemplary professor at UWT. The award recipient will be recognized at the UW Seattle Awards Ceremony and the UWT Award Ceremony. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan.16. Local dance theatre hunts for new talent

Dance Theatre Northwest is currently accepting applications for its Jan. 25 auditions for “Beautiful Ballets.” Classically trained adult dancers ages 17-35 and Junior ages 9-17 are required. The school will also be conducting auditions for scholarships for dancers age 12-21. Call (253) 460-7648 or 565-5149 for more information.

Dance Theatre Northwest is a non-profit organization with goals including: to provide American contemporary dance performances and ballet-based dance education, to maintain artistic integrity and to offer the community an opportunity to experience dance as an important art form.

Museum of Glass breaks attendance projections

The Museum of Glass: International Center for Contemporary Art reports that since it opened in July 2002 almost 185,000 people have visited, breaking the Museum’s attendance projections.
Visitors from every state and over 35 countries have visited the Museum. Over 300 artists have participated at the Museum by offering lectures, demonstrations and hands-on activities to visitors. In addition, the Museum currently has 4,900 members and has served 11,000 school children through educational programming.

Plans for 2003 include the first museum exhibition in the Pacific Northwest of the work of Bertil Vallien, a new theatrical production called Daedulus and Ikaros and wide variety of regional and international visiting and guest artists. Diversity Panel meets tonight

The campus community is invited to join the Cultural Diversity and Societal Justice (T SOCW 504) class for their annual Diversity Panel tonight, 7 to 9:15 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Science Building, room 309.
Come hear panel members talk about different aspects of diversity related to both social perceptions/stereotypes, individual experiences and social justice.

Participants will consider their own aspects of diversity such as gender, race, ethnicities, class, ability status, sexual orientation, age, religion, spirituality and geographic community.
This event is sponsored by UWT Arts and Lectures and the UWT Social Work Program.

Office of Student Life boasts new staff and hours

The Office of Student Life recently hired Stacy Kerker, a UWT Business Student, as the Student Life Executive Program Assistant. According to the Student Life Office, Stacy is a welcomed addition to the staff. She was funded with SAFC funding.
In addition, the office has revised hours of operation for Winter quarter. They are as follows:

Monday and Tuesday -
11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday - 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The revised Office of Student Life Winter Quarter drop-in hours are as follows:
