PHILANTHROPY

The Lambda Chi Alpha Alpha Psi Chapter at the University of Washington, participates in many philanthropy events throughout the year. Our largest yearly philanthropy, Watermelon Bust, takes place in May. The philanthropy itself typically consists of many enjoyable activities such as a sorority flag football tournament, a watermelon eating competition, watermelon wrestling, a skit contest, and a large get together on Friday to cap off the week. Last year our philanthropy raised several thousand dollars to benefit UNICEF. We currently sponsor a child from Guatemala, and every year during fall quarter we conduct a food drive benefiting Northwest Harvest Food Bank in coordination with the national Lambda Chi Alpha Brothers Feeding Others philanthropy event. This year we donated a whopping fifteen hundred pounds of food. Last year many members joined in the Beat The Bridge event to support diabetes research, and many hope to participate again this year. Here at Lambdas we constantly strive to instill the busy college experience with a rewarding community service aspect.
