• Equality

Nationally, Lambda Chi Alpha has abandoned the term "pledge." Since 1972, uninitiated members of Lambda Chi Alpha have been referred to as "associate members." Immediately upon admission to the fraternity, associate members are able to hold any officer position in the house (with the exception of the ritualist) and contribute in any voting process that pertains to the fraternity.

At Lambda Chi Alpha, we pride ourselves on our commitment to a strict no-hazing policy which is strictly enforced. Throghout your membership in the house, including initiation, we solemnly pledge our adherence to this policy.

  • Academics

As members of Lambda Chi, we strive for excellence and of upmost importance is education, after all, we are students at the University of Washington. We currently have a strong academic program in which an officer is elected to guide each member in their educational advancements.

Our current policy requires members to adhere to a strict policy of receiving a quarterly grade point average of 2.5. If a member fails to meet this expectation, they will experience social probation and will be required to form a plan with our educational officer to raise their grades for the next quarter.

We are also happy to announce that we offer scholarships for excellent students. The LeRoy Brooks Award was created in 2000 and is an award for inspirational leadership. The Kyle Rudow scholarship is awarded to two members who show excellence in fraternity life and scholastics, each for $1000. These scholarships will be applied directly to the members tuition.

  • History

The University of Washington chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha was founded in 1918. Having served home to over 2,000 initiated members including Mark Brunell, Jim Mora Jr., and General Pappy Boyington, Lambda Chi Alpha has provided an environment focused on a well-rounded lifestyle that balances academics, intramural athletics, social life, and preparation for future career opportunities. Lambda Chi Alpha was the first national fraternity to eliminate hazing in 1972 in an attempt to create equality among the men of the chapter. Since then, Lambda Chi Alpha has continued to promote equality and justice throughout all the men of the fraternity. Lambda Chi Alpha, it's where you belong!
