| I took the original airbus picture that I got from flicker and I used the color wand to get a rough selection of the aircraft, without the landing gear. I then used the quick mask tool to refine my selection. To get the plane to look right I turned on the selection antialiassing on and the brush sharpness to 100%. Once I finished the time consuming task of taking the aircraft out of one picture I put it onto a picture of a sky. I rotated it downwards using the free transform tool. I then made a ragged hole in the aircraft, using one of the non uniform brush tools, to make it look like an explosion occurred their. I took the hydraulics picture and also created holes in it then I copied a small section of it and used the paste into tool to paste below the plane, so you can see the hydraulics system through the hole in the aircraft. |
| The next step was to remove the various parts of the plane that were ripped off. I did the wing first, by making a jagged edge on one end of the wing and a smooth edge over the rest of the wing. At the same time I also separated the engine from the wing. I moved the wing up and the engine down, as that is what would happen if it broke off. I did the same for the tail fin, and again used the non uniform bush tool to remove a small section of the tail fin. After that I “rebuilt” the part of the aircraft that was hidden by the wing. This was by far the most time consuming task, making it look good. At this same time I also removed the logo on the fuselage so as not to identify the owner of the aircraft. Most of my work here was done using the clone brush tool. |
| The final step was to use the motion blur tool with 11 pixels as the blur length and the angle of the object in question. I then used the film grain texture tool to make it look like it is breaking up. The motion blur also had the added benefit of making my outline of the aircraft look less worse, because the whole aircraft was blurred in an artistic fashion. |

The web is a great resource for information however, not everything you see on the web is factual. Some is meant to deceive, although most sites that convey misinformation, due it either to be funny, to make a joke, or it is not purposeful. This last one is more common, it is often just a lack of fact checking that results in misinformation being portrayed. Because anyone is capable of posting information to the web everyone is therefore capable of disseminating misinformation. The people responsible for figuring out if the information is valid are not are you and other viewers of the site in question. Wikipedia is a great example of this because, the typical swear word or wrong fact is corrected within some astoundingly short amount of time, within a few seconds usually. As you search the web for information on some subject, have a good sense of what your looking for and have a sanity check ready, for instance, if the website is saying, “Bill Gates Net worth exceeds 100 trillion dollars”, you may want to check other sources to see if that is really the case. Your site has a better chance of being seen as a sound source of information if it has the following characteristics. Firstly, does it have your contact information on it. Secondly, does it have references to other site that claim to back up your point of view. Also very important is professionalism, how does it look, are there spelling or grammar mistakes. Chances are fairly good that if the person did not really care to correct the grammar, they probably did not care to check their facts thoroughly. |
