COLLOQUIUM     ABOUT US    EXAM LISTS    JOURNALS & LINKS    CONTACTS    HOME

The Language and Rhetoric Colloquium is dedicated to a variety of issues, from rhetoric and composition, to critical discourse analysis and stylistics, to studies in English language history, language and discourse theory, and second language acquisition.

The kinds of presentations we sponsor are limited only by the imagination of the people doing them and the needs of the audience attending them. Some examples of programs we welcome are:

  • Conference paper test-runs
  • Job talk trials
  • Informal group discussions
  • Workshops

If you have an idea for an event, please send an email to the Steering Committee to propose a talk!

Writing the Prospectus
Monday, April 6th at 3:30pm in CMU 202 (The Simpson Center Conference Room)

This will be an informal event, the purpose of which is to pass down the wisdom, soothe the anxieties of the up and coming, preempt any of the procedural snafus common to the process, and congratulate the almost finished. Everyone at all levels of the program is welcome and encouraged to attend, and anyone with a prospectus or dissertation in any stage of completion is invited to share.
