In early April, the Seattle Times and Post-Intelligencer put aside their differences ahead of a self-imposed arbitration deadline and agreed to continue publishing their newspapers under the terms of the JOA (Joint Operating Agreement) that has permitted the two daily newspapers to share printing costs and revenues while retaining separate editorial operations and publishing a joint newspaper on Sunday.

The renewal terms of the 1983 agreement will keep the papers zipped at the hip until 2016.

Survey results chart An informal survey of 93 people found that 50 percent believe Seattle can sustain two newspapers, 13 percent do not think Seattle can sustain two newspapers and 37 percent do not know. See more survey results.
