VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH

Are you interested in making visits to local high schools and community colleges over Spring Break to promote Engineering Open House and the UW College of Engineering? How about visiting the high school you graduated from to talk about Engineering Open House and your experiences at the UW College of Engineering? If so, please contact Kristina Michaels at kristina@engr.washington.edu or 206-685-1785 by March 1, 2005 (or sooner).

We are in search of pre-engineering and engineering students who would like to visit local high schools and community colleges (or possibly the high school you graduated from) to highlight the great experience one can have by attending the Annual Engineering Open House as well as to get students excited about the UW College of Engineering through the experiences you have had. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please send email to Kristina Michaels ( kristina@engr.washington.edu ) by March 1, 2005.

We will contact those who have indicated an interest in volunteering after March 1st to discuss details! Some information to assist you in deciding if this opportunity is right for you: 1. We will provide all volunteers with handouts and talking points to assist you in your visit. 2. We will provide volunteers with contact information to contact the school to arrange your visit. Volunteers will arrange their own visits in order to work around their schedule and what works best for them. 3. The time commitment involved is entirely up to you. You can simply volunteer for one hour or an entire day -- whatever works for you. 4. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation. We are excited about Open House and the opportunities it brings to the local communities. Our goal is to make this year's Open House the best attended by having well over 6,000 individuals visit Open House on Friday and Saturday, April 22 & April 23. We feel that with your volunteer efforts in promoting this incredible event, this goal will be achieved.
