Kappa Delta Chi

All Powerful Alpha Pi Chapter

Since 1987

The idea of creating a distinct sorority at the University of Washington began on October 13, 2006. Two young women, Annabel Cholio and Maria Guadalupe Gallardo were influenced by a Latino Greek fraternity and close friends to establish a Latina sorority on the University of Washington, Seattle campus. They were in search for a sorority that mirrored their values and goals, which is when Kappa Delta Chi was suggested. These two individuals then began researching Kappa Delta Chi and were immediately attracted to the organization's traditional values of Unity, Honesty, Integrity and Leadership and its Christian principles.

Once they knew that Kappa Delta Chi was the organization for them, they set out to find other strong Latina women that also upheld high standards and morals. Each charter member was selectively chosen and invited to the first informational meeting on October 27, 2006.

As time passed friendships were formed and grew stronger from the foundation of the organization.  Due to the efforts and hard work put forth by the women on February 11, 2007 a Kappa Delta Chi prospective colony was established. This diverse collaboration of women from the University of Washington and Seattle University became known as Elite Latina Leaders Achieving Success (E.L.L.A.S). In the months to come, E.L.L.A.S upheld the high standards of Kappa Delta Chi and created a name for itself on the campus by implementing community service events, fundraisers and socials.

On September 30, 2007 with the guidance of the Lord and their passion for the organization eleven women were pinned and began the charter member process to establish Kappa Delta Chi at the University of Washington. The women are as follows:

Blanca Chavez

Annabel Cholico

Claudia Cortes

Paola Flores

Maria Guadalupe Gallardo

Josephina Mesa

Naila Prieto

Patricia Ramos

Esmeralda Reyes

Michelle Rodriguez

Diana Melano

On December 9, 2007 after completing hundreds of hours of community service, diligently studying, and dedicating themselves to their sisters, this group of eleven was inducted into Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Incorporated. These strong and passionate women are and forever will be known as the charter members of the All Powerful Alpha Pi Chapter at the University of Washington.
