Membership is conferred by secret ceremony. therefore, strict rules and regulations regarding membership intake have been established to enforce and ensure the Fraternity's no hazing policy Undergraduate membership in Kappa Alpha Psi is limited to male students who have demonstrated good moral character and are in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent. All applicants must comply with the academic requirements of both the college or university and the Fraternity, having earned credits equal to one-fourth of those needed for graduation. In addition, applicants must have an accumulative average not less than 2.3/4.0.

Membership in the Alumni chapter requires an earned Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent. Kappamen who have left school should contact their local alumni chapters for information on affiliation.
