This is a picture of "The birth of Venus" by the painter Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510). Venus was the roman name for Afrodita, greek goddess of Love and Beauty. The name Afrodita was the one we choose for our integrated age structured model for the study of population dynamics of the patagonian scallop (Zygochlamys patagonica). We are presenting the first results of this model in the XIII International Pectinid Workshop in Coquimbo, Chile (18-24 April, 2001).
