FLECKS OF DEW
5-19-00
Mist grey on the Scotch broom
grey-green
leaves
but more:
five water-green
grey-green drops
of dew in
the central channel
grey and scattered
about on the steeply
sloping
sides of the leaves, dozens of tinier dots
of dew on
breath-fine hairs
creating mist-grey
mystical-grey
haze
penumbra
diaphanous
halos of heaven
unearthly
and over there
clover leaves
fleur-de-lis of the purple
crowns
-- where the black dog rolled --
edged in finer, tinier
crystal drops
each dot beaming the universe
of grey sky
grey sun
the transparency of being
grey
in the grey morning mist.
