February 22, 2007: Sometime last week I was standing on the porch and a full rainbow came out. It had been a while since I'd seen one, especially one so clear and vibrant.
January 17, 2007: 2007 is off to a great start - research is as exciting as ever, friends are fun, and family is healthy.

Above: Team BRCCANS, the 2006 winners of the Beer Olympics.

Other News: Lately, I've been playing around a bit lately on my Ubuntu 6.06 Linux machine - I've set up a webserver from my home to run MySQL, Apache, and the various scripting languages. Recently, I set up a Happy Hour Wiki for the Seattle area. Read and contribute your reviews and favorite Happy Hours to the 'Wiki' at www.helpthehappy.com.

Above: November 23, 2005, the "High Pass Filters" flag football season just came to a close. We lost the lawyers, or soon to be lawyers at least, in a close and hard-played game.

November 24, 2004: I made a site dedicated towards informing UW graduate students about the union - how much it costs each student, and what we get in return. Unite Against Unionization is the name of the site.

November 8, 2004: Summer is over, it's a sad for me, I like summer. But the house will keep me busy for the winter. Here's a friends website that he wrote all by himself, try it out and read some of my blogs from before the election... Zoji.com. Free unlimited email, no ads, no catches, and lots of other good stuff, try it out.

June 2004: I'm enjoying the summer heat here in Seattle, temps in the mid 70s. Oh where did my Alaskan blood go? I don't have much tolerance for cold anymore and the heat doesn't bother me the way it used to.
Besides the weather, one of the most exciting (and time consuming) events happening in my life is the buying of a house. My brother and I, with some help from the folks, will complete the purchase of the house shown below on July 15th. We'll move in shortly after that. We shopped a lot, I'm nervous Seattle's market is at the top of a housing bubble, but the nice low interest rates make it hard to not buy now.

December 2003: Just returned from a wondering trip to Cape Cod visiting relatives. Photos are located here. Pardon my expression in this photo below, I had just run back from setting the autotimer on the camera and was trying to pretend I was comfortable...

family!

Update: Aug 2003. I'm back at home in Alaska without a ton to do before heading to graduate school. In my spare time, I've been hunting for good cell phone plans and deals (I've fallen in love with the Nokia 3650) and I copied and pasted an interesting thread on cell phone antenna boosters to my page. Here is the link. It's long and doesn't answer all the questions, but it's amusing to read, I think... jetpeach
The weekend of May 3th was 'houseparties' here at Princeton. Definitely a blast. Due to time contraints, these photos are unedited and unsorted, simply run through my new html page generator and that's all. Removed for space.
oops, i'm using my left hand... Left:

Weekend of April 26 - I finally make a visit to the nations capital. After seeing the snipers in the trees outside the Whitehouse, I cruised around to the various monuments and museums before partying with my buddy Michael Tubman during 'Tubmania 2003'.

My graduate school decision is over! University of Washington in Seattle will be my home for approximately the next five years. When visiting the program, Professor Meldrum, director of the Microscale Life Sciences Center offered me a position and a research fellowship in her lab. Although the weather in Seattle apparently sucks, I'm looking forward to beginning work on my PhD in her lab, being close to home, and living with my brother and his roommates at their house.
Gramps and I!

My California trip visiting family and graduate schools over intersession was a great success, both inspirational and fun. The excellent UC programs and, admittedly, beautiful weather, have sucked me in and there's an excellent chance I'll be attending UCSB or UCSD in the fall of this year for graduate school.
January 2002: Seeing friends and family back at home over the holidays was fun. But dreaded final exams along with graduate school applications hung over me the whole time. Thank god that's the last time Princeton will ruin another christmas "break".

September 27, 2002: I've decided to buzz my hair. Low maintenance => more time to study.
buzzzed!
Me pausing to take in the scenery on the Russian Lakes trail.

Left: My trip to Alaska at the end of August and beginning of September was a blast. My friend Jerome Hauser, my father, and I spent four days biking the Russian Lakes trail. We got pretty nervous that something was terribly wrong during this sunny first day of the trip, but it rained constantly the other 3 days and we felt much more comfortable.

Below: During rainy nights, Jerome and I played dozens of chess games under our gas lantern.
Hmm, what to do, what to do...

Check out the photos from my trip to Cape Cod (Aug 17-18) I stayed with my brother and his girlfriend's family.
