Large Group 4/30: Pastor Eugene Cho

Pastor Eugene Cho of Quest Church will be coming to speak at Large Group on April 30th (next week) about global poverty.

In case you are unfamiliar with him here’s a short bio:

Eugene Cho, a second-generation Korean-American, is the founder and lead pastor of Quest Church - an eight year old multicultural, multigenerational, and urban faith community in Seattle and the founder and executive director of Q Cafe, an innovative nonprofit neighborhood café and music venue. He and his wife, Minhee, are also the co-founders of a new global movement to fight extreme global poverty called One Day’s Wages. He also serves as a contributing editor for Sojourners Magazine. Eugene writes regularly and is recognized as one of the most prominent Christian bloggers at http://eugenecho.com. You can also follow him on Twitter.

Hope to see everyone there!

IV’s Got Talent!

Join us for our first ever (in recent memory) IV talent show. The show will be on Friday, May 15th from 7:30-9pm in the Haggett Cascade Rooms.

Our goal is to raise money for a charitable organization as well as provide a fun night of entertainment. If you have any ideas or suggestions about where the money should go, contact a member of the IV Justice League (Dale, Tammie, Cody, Sarah W.).

So what’s the deal?

Talent Show: If you’ve got talent which I know you do because you were attentively listening to Christian’s speech on parable of the talents, then sign up now. We need more participants to make this show successful. Anyone can be in the talent show (not just IVers) so recruit all your friends and family members to sign up. Examples include a skit, a musical performance, a video project.

Please note that this will be a festive event. So dress up!

Summit Urban Project

Summit is a summer Intervarsity service and leadership project. Freshmen and others who have not done the project are encouraged to go on the summer project. You will encounter the city and people as you learn about homelessness, poverty, and injustice and how it all relates to our faith in Jesus Christ. Ask some of the older folks who have gone on the project to hear crazy stories and learn more about what the project is like.

The project runs from June 14th - June 27th in Tacoma. Total cost is $200, but register before May 1st to receive a $50 discount.
