The 21st Annual WIlliam C. Kloos Traffic Bowl Competition, hosted by Oregon ITE, was held in Portland, Oregon this year. It provided valuable opportunities for transportation students in the Pacific Northwest region to meet, discuss, compete and have fun with other Transportation Engineering students, professionals, and other affiliates. This year, Walker Cheng, Sonia Xiao, Matt Dunlap, Sherry Kim, Tianle Cheng, Shan Ma, Yixiao Yin, Xiaoyi Liu, Carmen Kwan, Yingqian Mei, Chaofan Bi and Daniel Ullom attended this event. Proudly representing the University of Washington ITE, students Matt Dunlap, Sherry Kim, Yixiao Yin and Xiaoyi Liu competed in the Traffic Bowl Jeopardy game was awarded $400 for winning second place. Go Huskies!

The ITE kick-off meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 18th, 2012 in STARLab located at More Hall 101 from 11:55 am- 1:00 pm. Free pizza and drinks will be provided to all attendees! The ITE Student Chapter at UW is a registered student organization created to promote the education and professional development of students interested in transportation engineering and planning.

ITE Student Membership application forms can be completed in the meeting or on-line. Annual student dues are free for your first year of membership and only $20 each year after! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

In welcoming the new academic year, PacTrans and ITE hosted a BBQ for students, faculty and staff in front of Mueller Hall on October 9th, 2012. With good food and great company, everyone was able to relax and socialize after the first few weeks of the quarter beginning. It allowed new students to get more acquainted with returning students and faculty, and be introduced to the great staff at PacTrans, all while enjoying this wonderful weather that has lasted in the Pacific Northwest.
