Meeting Minutes

Call to order: A general meeting of the Association of Information Management Students was held in MGH 310D, Seattle WA on 2 November, 2010.

The meeting convened at 8:01PM, President Jordan Eschler presiding, and Emily Oxenford, Secretary.

Officers’ reports:

Jason: Feedback from first years.

Some concerns from mid-careers about day-student working style (deadlines and expectations).

Emily: Continuing with calendar, notes, advertisements. Want to look at Sharepoint revamp and documentation.

Ajay: Building relationship. What about gifts for alumni/guests who come to talk to us?

Megha: Funds (check) are finally ready. Going to pick up and deposit tomorrow (11/3).

Ashish: Want to let incoming students know about opportunities (case studies, research paper things).

Response: We now have a MSIM student on the Research Committee. Cheryl Metoyer is the new Dean of Research. Look into how to do an information session about the case study competitions (perhaps the January or February).

Brian: First video up on YouTube (international student panel event). Hope to continue the video projects.

Paul: Getting AIMS on the website, more direct link (showcasing AIMS). Role of mentor-program, perhaps more than

Jordan: Meeting with Mike C, talked about the diversity issue. Now have two people on the Diversity Committee.

Topics of Discussion:

How can we connect with alumni? Showcase what they’re doing in the community (posts on website? Page?)

Maintain contact information with alumni?

We want to create a sustainable legacy.

Feedback about mentorship program? Perhaps we can create a Google Document to track issues between meetings.

Announcements: Eisenberg event is this Thursday (11/4) at 7PM. Let Jordan know if you can be there to help.
