InfoCamp Seattle: Informal Meetups

If you haven’t heard about it, you need to know about InfoCamp! InfoCamp, as described on their wikipage, is “an unconference for the information community. It’s for anyone interested in user experience, information architecture, interaction design, user-centered design, information design, library & information science, online search, information management, informatics, and related fields.” While you should absolutely register now (only $15 for students!) and mark it down on your calendar, there’s something you should check out if you’re in the Seattle area now. There are two informal meetups here in Seattle on August 25h and September 23rd, and it’d be a perfect way to have a smaller and more manageable introduction or reconnection to the information community.

Hope to see you there!

From the InfoCamp blog:

InfoCamp Seattle 2010 is going to be here before we know it – October 2 & 3. Some of the best things about InfoCamp are the connections that happen and the ideas that emerge. But why wait until October?! Start these connections and ideas rolling early with your super-friendly, info ninja peers at our 2 pre-InfoCamp meetups! If you have a pre-baked InfoCamp topic – here’s the place to test it out to a smaller, supportive group. And if you don’t have a topic, that’s fine – stop by anyway and meet other InfoCampers!

When: Wednesday, August 25th & Thursday Sept. 23rd
Time: 7:00-9:00 pm
Where: Piecora’s pizza, 1401 East Madison Street in Capitol Hill
Who: You and us: an interdisciplinary, creative, passionate bunch
Bring: $5-10 in cash if you want to share pizza and beer (Piecora’s can’t do individual orders for group events).
