Meeting Minutes – 19^th May 2010

Call to order: A general meeting of the Association of Information Management Students was held in MGH 310D, Seattle, WA on th 8^th of May, 2010.

The meeting convened at 7:07 PM, President Jordan Eschler presiding and Secretary Emily Oxenford, recording.

Attendance:

Approval of minutes: Motion was made by the President and seconded to approve the minutes of the 8th^th May 2010 meeting.

Officers’ reports:

President: Jordan Eschler

The All iSchool Meeting went well. Jordan reported what AIMS has been doing and some of the plans we have for next year. The budget cuts the iSchool is facing over next 2 years is 15%. Many iSchools across the country are being merged with other departments. We’re fighting to keep the iSchool a separate school.

In two weeks we have a slew of iSchool events. The iBall event will be in the evening on Friday the 4^th of June, IUGA is holding their end of the year event in the afternoon on Saturday the 5^th, and the AIMS BBQ will wrap up the weekend on the 6^th.

Technology: Stuart Maxwell

Things are good. Continuing to broadcast the meetings live via Adobe Connect. Posted link on the AIMS website until “Connect” for easier access.

Vice-President: Brian LeBlanc

Jordan and Brian made and got out the invitations (for the BBQ) to the professors. The flyer has been selected and printed. Have to step up the logistical buying of food. The current plan is to take a trip to Costco the night before or day of event.

Secretary: Emily Oxenford

Continuing to populate the website and social media (Facebook, Twitter) with content and announcements.

Public Relations: Ajay Pillay

“The wrong group must be destroyed”. On Facebook, there have been concerns because of the two separate AIMS sites. Will be ending the “fan” page, and will invite those people to join the official group.

Unfinished Business:

Archer Award

The award itself has been ordered. Stuart is the “just in case Jordan is hit by a bus” backup, and knows the results of the voting.

New business:

None

Announcements:

Beardraiser Pub Night on Friday the 21^st, after the capstone presentations.

Plan to ask Kevin to show.  Scheduled for Finn MacCools at 7:30pm.
