Upcoming Event
The first is happening on this Friday, December 4th at 2:00pm in the Mary Gates Hall room 420. One of the things that I personally found difficult is how to get results from a career fair. On Friday Kevin DeSouza has agreed to talk about his experience with career fairs. Kevin has had multiple companies which have hired from various career fairs so he knows what companies are looking for and what will make you stand out. It is a great way to get a leg-up on other people that will be there. He is asking that those who attend bring their resume, three companies that they want to work for and a two minute elevator speech. I would suggest that you go to the list of companies that will be at the career fair in January. You can find that list on the iSchool Webpage. I look forward to seeing you there!
Help enhance the AIMS Website!
As you can tell the Aims layout has been updated but one thing you may not know is that we are now using WordPress as a backend. This has come after some help from fellow students. The current layout is only a placeholder until we get a new student layout created. Starting in January I will be starting two groups to enhance the website. The first will be creating a permanent layout/design for this website. The other group will be changing the sites Information Architecture. This group will have to keep in touch with the design group but I want to make this project purely student run. I will be there for help and advice but I would like you to take the lead on both of these endeavors. Both of these projects don’t have to be in addition to your school work. If you are in a class that has a final project that can be used for either of these then by all means take it on. I just ask that you keep me in the loop so I know what is going on. This is also a good opportunity for those of you who would want to take over as Aims Technology officer to see what I actually do and if it is something you would want to do.
