Do you have a great idea for a student event, want to travel to a conference, or throw an alumni event?
There are several exciting funding possibilities available students and student orgs at this time. There are funds available for student events, alumni events, and conference travel. Here’s some of the funds available and where you can learn more about accessing them. Don’t worry if you’re not a member of a student org. Many of the orgs, AIMS included, would love to help you with your idea.
Student Leadership Council
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is composed of representatives from AIMS, IUGA, ALISS, and the PhD Association. The SLC has a combined pool of around $5,000 for student events. This can be used for almost any student activity available to all iSchool students. Funding guidelines are soon to be published, but don’t let that stop you from applying for funding now.

Robert M & Marilyn G Mason Endowed Fund for Student Innovation in Information & Society
The Mason Endowed fund is a yearly endowment that makes up to $600 available for any student planning an event that involves innovation in information and society. This could be a seminar, symposium, conference, speaker series, or anything else that involves innovation in information management or science.

Alumni Events Funding
The Information School’s Office of Advancement has a pool of money available for student run events involving alumni. If you have an event that targeted at both students and alumni, the Office of Advancement may be able to provide funds for your event.

Student Travel Funds
The Information School has a pool money available for students traveling to conferences, symposiums, etc… The funds can be used help pay for airfare and are available to all iSchool students, although it has traditionally been used mostly for PhDs.
