AIMS Officer Focus:

Program Representative: In my position as Student Representative to the MSIM Program Committee, I act as a student voice to the faculty in matters of policy and curriculum. This year we are undergoing a curriculum review, this means the classes currently being offered are examined for relevance to our program. If the classes are found wanting, they are modified or changed to suit the needs of the upcoming student body. These changes are sometimes felt within a year's time, such as in the capstone class, but more often these changes will not be made known for two year's time. the Committee uses the student representative to get a feel for the student experience in the program. If you have any questions about this position or about the Program Committee itself, please email me at mandyudub@yahoo.com! - Mandy Fonville

May 11, 2009:

Greetings MSIM students!

Please take a moment and vote for this year's Archer Award winner at this Catalyst Survey

Six people were nominated, so we didn't need a preliminary round (no reason to exclude just one person).

Included in the survey are the nomination statements submitted by your MSIM peers. Please read these over before making your final decision.

The criteria for the award is below (for reference):

  1. Currently Graduating: This person must be a graduating Information Management student of the Information School at the University of Washington.
  2. Dedication: This student has shown a dedication to the goals of higher education, self-betterment, and personal career advancement.
  3. Shown Vision: This student has shown vision in the Information Management field that will guide their career for years to come. Vision can be exemplified by their ideas, thoughts, or writings (academic, professional, or otherwise).
  4. Commitment when Overcoming Adversity: This student has shown a commitment to overcome some kind of adversity during their time at the iSchool

While this challenge (academic, professional, or otherwise) may have enticed another student to shift their priorities or give up, this person showed a singular sense of "aim" by continuing on their course, fast and true. Voting will run until 11:59PM on May 18, and the award will be presented at the iSchool convocation.

Thank you for your time and effort!

December 29, 2008:
Happy new year to everyone! We have made various changes to make sure that the official information about AIMS on this web site is up to date, but the most important update was for you!

The AIMS web site is now the proud parent of a wiki, where you can document information about the MSIM program to your heart's content. We intend this to be an organic resource organized and managed by MSIM students for MSIM students where you can add information that you feel helps others in the program. We hope that this will help to fill some of the gaps in information about the program itself. Of course, it's not just limited to program information - for instance, check out the book swap page!

We look forward to serving you next quarter! Watch this space for updates on career week, the upcoming student government elections, general meetings, officer meetings, and more.
