CSE 457 Logo

In Autumn 2001, I was a teacher's assistant for a class in computer graphics. The professor asked me to redesign the logo for the class. The following are the logos I designed.

The professor liked the third logo the most. The logo is still used today in the CSE 457 class page.

1. The following are thoughts about the first design:
image of a cube representing the 3-dimensional graphics that
students will be creating.
pixelated lines resembling the pixels of a computer screen.
red, blue, and green for the
additive primary colors.
2. I thought the first design is too Windows-like, so I opted for a simpler design. The color scheme, the combination of orange, black, and grey, gives it a "tech" look, which I like more. 3. The same idea of pixels was used, but now with something realistic superimposed into the pixels. The problem with this one is that one has to look closely to see the hand, thus the concept of drawing is not readily obvious.
