Primary research focus is use of speech recognition technology to automate outbreak investigation. Conducted the first part of the requirements analysis, performed numerous literature searches, and analyzed data on recent Hepatitis A outbreaks to support the need for automated epidemiologic interviews.

Master’s Thesis Project
Devised database structure that combines the epidemiologic as well as genetic data of caliciviruses. Incorporated regional sequences of “Norwalk-like” viruses into a MySQL database. Created Java applications to query certain sequences and to run nucleotide comparisons in Fasta.
