UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF GLOBAL HEALTH
FACULTY: USE THIS FORM TO SUBMIT A THESIS PROJECT IDEA FOR WHICH YOU
WANT A STUDENT RESEARCHER |
||||||||
|
October, 2009 This year, the Department of
Global Health hopes to offer our students more structured thesis opportunities
through our partners and friends in the practice community. ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâàYou need not
feel obligated to provide students funding to do these projects, although
obviously they would much appreciate it--at least, perhaps, travel expenses.
The primary commitment from you and your organization is the time required to
help the student formulate the research question, get access to the population
and data required to answer it, and make sense of what they find at the end.
̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâàTwo UW faculty members will serve on each student's thesis committee, too
(and if you are a faculty member, you could be one of these; if you would LIKE
to be a courtesy faculty member, this is your chance!) Think of this as an opportunity
to get a research project done that you've been meaning to get to for a while.
̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâàAnd, preferably, a publication too!̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâàÃâàAmy Hagopian, PhD, 206-616-4989 or 543-8382, hagopian@u.washington.edu Instructions: Please provide incoming first year Global Health MPH students with a brief description of your proposed thesis topic idea.̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâàHere are some topics you might address (but aren't required to) to̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬"origins of the project, location, population, methods, timeline, funding opportunities, human subjects approval status, and whether you believe this is publishable.
