10/21/13: LinkedIn will be bringing one of their acquisitions, Slideshare (slideshare.net) based in San Francisco, to campus tomorrow at the start-up fair in the Paul Allen G. Center from 3-6. They are looking forward to meting members of our group who are passionate about software development and looking for a potential career or internship. Don’t hesitate to talk to Slideshare at the CSE start-up fair, since they’ve invited members of IEEE to talk to them.
10/14/13: In case you haven’t heard, the University of Washington’s IEEE and HKN student branches have merged! What this means is that we’ll be under the same leadership which will allow us to hold more organized events and involve more of the student body. What this DOESN’T mean is that the students in IEEE will become HKN members; HKN is still an honor society which has GPA requirements for it’s members (please see our membership page for more information). This goes for everyone in our organization, including officers.
10/09/13: Unfortunately, we’ve put a hold on the tutoring service due to our inability to maintain volunteer-based tutors. We’ve asked the EE department for some way to incentivise students to volunteer, but we have been unable to work anything out. We’re currently working on a way to get the tutoring service up and running as soon as possible, and are open to any suggestions you may have to improve our service. Currently, we’re thinking of opening an online forum for students to post questions, and hints or advice. Ideally, this won’t be restricted to just class material, but also just advice in general.
10/08/13: There is a new mailing list for IEEE and HKN. Sign up here.
