Team Leaders develop an HCASB site (clinic, housing, school visit) for themselves and 3-4 participants. Positions are competitive, however, Team Leaders are guaranteed a spot on the trip.

  • Planner 2010 Questionnaire: Due Oct. 24th, 2009, Noon

Application Process

The first application process applies to those interested in applying as a Team Leader. All Team Leaders have a guaranteed spot on this year’s Healthcare Alternative Spring Break. However, they will also be expected to plan the clinic site where they will shadow, as well as the housing and community service activity, for themselves and a team of regular participants. Each applicant will respond to 3-4 short essay questions, along with 3 additional specialized short essay questions in regard to the applicants’ interest in becoming a Team Leader. We require a minimum 3.0 GPA. A blind reading process will be utilized, meaning that the written applications are ranked without the readers’ knowledge of the applicants’ names. Past participants and planners are encouraged to apply as Team Leaders.

The second application process, which opens in mid-December, is for regular participants not interested in becoming a Team Leader. As above, the applicants will be judged based on their responses to 3-4 short essay questions. We require a minimum 3.0 GPA. Decisions are not based on class standing and undergraduates of all experience levels and pre-health fields are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to individuals who have not participated in HCASB before, though past participants are encouraged to apply as well. Applicants will not be admitted on a rolling basis.
