Health and Lifestyle Information for a Modern World |
Our country is very sick. According to US Centers for Disease Control statistics: -30 % of US adults are obese -Almost 20 % have diabetes or pre-diabetes -Almost 30 % have high blood pressure -Over 20 % have heart disease -Over 10 % have asthma -Over 10 % suffer from depression each year [NIMH] Many of these numbers are on the rise, not only in the US but throughout the world. Other less serious problems are equally common: allergies, lack of energy and migraines for example. Something is clearly wrong. Actually, a number of different things are wrong. We know through scientific research and common sense that a poor diet, lack of exercise, stressful lifestyle and exposure to toxins contribute greatly to many health problems. The heart of the matter is this: the more we stray from a natural diet and lifestyle, the more difficult it is for us to be healthy and feel good. There's also some good news. We already know exactly how to prevent (and sometimes cure) the vast majority of health problems, and far more effectively than any pill or operation. We can achieve this cheaply and enjoyably through a healthy diet, regular exercise and a healthy mind. The information we need to be healthy and happy exists, but it's not reaching people. We're surrounded by misleading advertising and confusing news stories about the latest scientific discoveries and diet fads. That's why I designed this site. On these pages, you'll find a bird's-eye view of health and lifestyle information based on scientific research, tradition and my own personal experience, organized in a clear and coherent fashion. I do not accept advertising, and this site brings me no revenue whatsoever. I hope this information helps you as much as it has helped me. |
There are three main elements necessary for optimal health: good nutrition, exercise, and a healthy mind. These are like the legs of a three-legged stool: if any one is missing, the whole stool is unstable. If they are all present and sturdy, they support and reinforce one another. We have the tools to create and strengthen each of these three legs. Please follow the links to your left for information on each of these topics. |
