Amanda Gray's Photos

This is Freddie. He's a young gray whale -- probably about 3 years old -- who has been hanging around Lopez Island in the San Juans for the summer. Apparently he's very fond of the mud there.

Sadly, this is my only photo of a whale from the whole trip! All three resident Orca pods were out to the ocean for a day trip, probably hanging out with the superpod, and then my batteries were dying so it was only on the last shot that I managed to get the timing down right between the click of the button and the actual recording of the photo. Maybe I'll have better luck next time!
