Friday, December 25th, 2009

No, no it’s not. Too bad, Seattle…T_T

RHO here, wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Keep warm, and have a great time with friends and family. The GNS has a lot of new seminars, activities, reviews, and updates for Winter 2010, so look forward to it! If you have any ideas for meets or activities we could possibly do, please shoot us an email!

The above image, btw, is from Nyan Koi, one of the new animes from Fall 09. I will hopefully be doing a review on it pretty soon.

AKI MATSURI!!!

AKI MATSURI!!
Hey all, hope your summer is going well.  Just wanted to let you know that there is going to be an awesome Japanese Fall Festival (AKI MATSURI) on Saturday the 12th (10am-6pm) and Sunday (11am-5pm) at Bellevue (community) College.
It’s basically a fun family-friendly occasion, with food (not free), traditional music, some fun Jgames, Jpeople, arts seminars, etc.  The last time I went there was Taiko drumming, koto (J string instrument), a small exhibit with Jhistory on Bainbridge Island and stuff about the internment, artist alley with quite exquisite traditional crafts, a food court area, kiddy games, origami, some martial arts demonstrations, bonsai, and that fun game where you try to fish out balloons in water with a hook (ha!).  I had a blast, and you should try this out too.  Just to let you know, some things require preregistration, but I think(not 100% on this) the thing is generally free.
I’ll probably just cruise around with some buddies from work and the UW, but if you’re there, feel free to give me a ring and we can meet up.  …whoever you are…
#: (425) 577-1073.  (don’t spam message me.  unless you’re hot, then it’s o.k.)
I might even dress up as Saigo no Samurai (not).  Seriously though, head over there.  I’d say ~400 ppl there, with ppl constantly coming and going (you don’t have to stay the whole time, just walk around a bit).

Lolz from the NEDROID PICTURE DIARY

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

The humor in this webcomic is so pleasantly simply, I can’t help but love it.  I was amused with nearly every page I read.  Screw Indie music inside jokes, Amerika-jin otaku stuck in Tokyo, and stick figures; the Nedroid Picture Diary is upbeat and fun.

Have an awesome nonadventure with Beartato the Bear that looks like a tater, and Reginald the bird of some sort! These guys make what otherwise would be dull everyday situations into giggles. That’s comic genius in my book.

Sakura-con Day 1

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

http://brokenanime.com/

Above is a link to my overview of Day 1 for Sakura-con.
Overall, it was fun (as it always is).
Not too much impressiveness in the cosplay department; some Venetian carnival guys with nice masks around, Katamari Damacy guys. Someone even dressed up as Jesus (!).
See you all there? cell: (425) 577-1073. Let’s meet up, talk like the anime nerds we are, ogle merchandise, and laugh our butts off at the high-calibre of AMVs they had this time around.

Rho-Rho-Rho your boat

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

hello all!  This is Rho (Ulysses), an enthusiastic graphic novel reader whom you have successfully managed to snag due to a nice 8.5×11 flier(sp?) posted in the Physics and Astronomy building.  After talking a bit with Joy and some others from this club (society) at Emerald City Comic-con, I was invited to do some reviews of manga/graphic novels/anime/candy for this site.  I hope you will find some of my stuff entertaining, enlightening, brilliant, amazingly intriguing, humble, repulsive, and a waste of a good 15 minutes.

Fireman dresses as Spiderman to rescue boy

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

“A Thai firefighter dressed as Spider-Man to rescue an autistic boy who climbed onto a third-floor balcony and dangled his legs over the side because he was nervous on his first day of school…”

Full story here.

Heroes are heroes are heroes, I guess! :) Kind of an interesting story! Kudos to the firefighter for thinking fast and cleverly.

New website!

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Okay, so the layout is exactly the same, but underneath, the GNS website is now awesome-powerful, thanks to WordPress. Yay!

To the right there is a spiffy events calendar, which will keep a rolling list and monthly visual as to upcoming GNS events, so keep an eye on that.

Other than that, we’re just using WordPress for some simplicity in keeping the website updated — instead of having to mangle with scary web code, we can just log in and post :)

Anyway, subscribe to the RSS feeds if you wish (links are at the bottom of the sidebar), and oh — use Firefox. Please. CSS code is not nice to me in Internet Explorer.
